Foxen Canyon Road Wineries with Tasting Rooms
Foxen Winery -
more info and photos
Bill Wathen and Dick Doré have been making wine together since 1985. Since that
time, their focus has remained the same—the creation of very small-production,
vineyard-designated wines using a "minimalist" approach to winemaking.
FOXEN is named in memory of William Benjamin Foxen, an English sea captain and
Dick's great-great grandfather, who came to Santa Barbara in the early 1800's. In
1837, this Santa Barbara County pioneer purchased the Rancho Tinaquaic, a Mexican
Land Grant that comprised most of what is now known as Foxen Canyon. Captain Foxen
adopted the distinctive "anchor" as his ranch cattle brand, which has become a
trademark of the winery. The winery has made its home on the 2000-acre Rancho
Tinaquaic, which remains in family hands.
Upon completion of FOXEN’s new solar-powered winery and tasting room in 2009, the
historic and beloved “tasting shack was renamed “foxen 7200”, where Bill and Dick
now feature their Bordeaux and Cal-Ital-style wines, under a newly designed label.
FOXEN pinots, chardonnays and Rhône-style wines will be showcased in the new
tasting room at 7600 Foxen Canyon Road. Both FOXEN and 7200 tasting rooms are open
daily 11-4.

Andrew Murray Vineyards -
more info and photos
Our winemaking philosophy is fundamentally simple, and has
been informed by twenty years of experience in France,
Australia, and California. We genuinely
believe that great wine starts at the root of the vine, at the very point where
the eventual fruit derives its sustenance.
We are very fortunate to have an ideal grape-growing climate here in
Santa Ynez Wine Country. As Rhone-style
wine specialists, we have the opportunity to select specific blocks of grapes
from vineyards managed to our specifications.
The result is a quaffable palette of single-vineyard Syrahs,
complimented by Grenache, Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne, and Grenache Blanc
offerings.
Care to visit the winery? It’s now open on weekends for wine tasting and tours amongst the vines for you and your friends.

Koehler Winery
Set amidst the lush canyons of eastern Santa Barbara County, Koehler Winery is located along the famed Foxen Canyon Trail, just northwest of the picturesque town of Los Olivos. Koehler produces over ten varietals on its 100 acre-estate from some of the oldest vines in the region.
At Koehler Winery, our philosophy is excellent wine begins in the vineyard. That’s why our vines are maintained throughout the season from pruning to harvest to ensure lower yields of higher quality grapes. Since the birth of our vineyard in 1972, Koehler Winery has continued to add new grape varieties to the estate in order to create a more complex artistic expression in our wines. Our goal is to create a destination where people from all over the world can come to enjoy an excellent selection of award winning palate pleasing wines that are grown, produced, and bottled at the peak of perfection.
We invite you to come visit our tasting room and enjoy a splash of each of our fine wines. You are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the estate where you can see sheep, emus, and birds that flock to the property.

Fess Parker Winery & Vineyard
Driving north along the pastoral Foxen Canyon Wine Trail feels like traveling back to California’s early days. Rolling hills frame vast meadows, deer and wildlife roam free, and pristine landscapes stretch as far as the eye can see.
Completed in 1994, the new winery and tasting room are loosely designed after an Australian sheep station, with a grand stone fireplace, stone floors, and a wraparound veranda with picnic tables. The spacious complex is set amid an acre of meticulously landscaped grounds that border the vineyard. The amphitheater-style lawn, rimmed by mature oaks, provides a serene setting for picnics, summer evening performances by Shakespeare Santa Barbara, and other events. Indoors, visitors taste the latest vintages at a worn knotty pine bar, surrounded by photos of Fess Parker as Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone and other memorabilia related to the actor’s television roles.
